About Our Olive Oil

Our Frantoio olive trees grow on our two small hills in the heart of the famous Stags Leap District of Napa Valley. We discovered that the terroir and microclimate that produces world class wines is also capable of producing olive oil of outstanding quality. Frantoio is the most noted olive oil variety of Tuscany, Italy, and one of the most highly acclaimed oil varieties in the world. It is grown commercially in most olive growing regions including Italy, North Africa, Australia, Argentina and California.

The orchard has been organically farmed for the last three years. We expect to receive the official California Certified Organic Farmer (CCOF) designation by the end of 2007.

Tasting Notes:

Type: Extra virgin olive oil
Varietal: 100% estate-grown Frantoio
Appellation: Stags Leap District, Napa Valley of California
Processing: Hand picked and cold pressed the same day, using a hammer mill and three-phase centrifuge separator.

The oil is Tuscan in style, but exhibits a softer, creamier approach and complex flavors. It has a medium body and avoids being buttery. It is unfiltered to capture all the delicious fruitiness and bitter finish that is true to the varietal character of this olive.

Experts who tasted the oil were amazed at its quality. The finish has a mild pungency that one would expect from a fresh oil. With near perfect balance, this oil is an ideal condiment, brash enough for drizzling over grilled vegetables, poultry or meats, but light enough for a tasty salad dressing.

We hope that its brilliant golden color and lovely aroma will please you.
